Yes, it has been a long time. Lot of reasons for that but mostly just had other stuff to do. This coming year is going to be another busy one. 2008, though successful, was in many ways dismal to me. Too much of work was documents, contracts and selling. Now that most of that is done, 2009 I hope to be the year of much coding (and much photography to keep me sane)…

So besides the two large projects I need to get coded and released in the next 8 months, the other goal (in the spirit of New Year’s resolutions) is to get some more photographs out there. Don’t know how or what yet but it’s time.

Took this while apparently also picking up dozens of small nymph stage deer ticks near the ruins of old Ebeneezer church at Jordan Lake.

Again, happy to have a functioning computer. Moving from the old Powerbook to the new (and newly functioning) Macbook Pro has given me an opportunity to revisit all the pictures I’ve taken this year and make an attempt to organize them in Lightroom. Also playing a bit with the some of the new tools in Lightroom 2.0 (like the graduated filter and brush tools here)… I really can’t explain it, but I like this picture.

Now that I have a functioning computer, catching up on sorting and processing photos. This one is from Gatorland in Orlando, FL at the end of May.

Weird very small pods…

I have no idea what these are but they’re freaky. They’re very small (less than a .75cm across probably) and start out as slightly fuzzy spheres with white centers. You can see two of these in this picture. Seems that eventually the sphere opens leaving the little shells with black “seeds” behind… These are in the sunny front yard. In the more shaded backyard are literally hundreds of fucking mushrooms…
